Department of Physical Sciences hosts Dr. Ing. Martin Kofi Mensah (Ph.D.) from Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TU BAF)
Machakos University, in partnership with Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TU BAF) in Germany through the YEMAYA-Women in science program and other African universities, was privileged to win the Erasmus+ Call2022-KA1-Learning Mobility of Individuals programme grant.
The goal of the programme is to build capacity for excellence in research, train on professional skills, build capacity for women leadership in science and promote practical applications of science-based outcomes. It is on this breadth that two female students from the Department of Physical Sciences were competitively selected to participate in a six month fully funded TUBAF – ERASMUS + PhD Traineeship Program at TU BAF. The students will be expected to carry out research and give presentations during their mobility at TU BAF as they gain practical research skills.
Within the same programme, Dr. Ing. Martin Kofi Mensah (Ph.D.) from TUBAF visited Machakos University from 10th March 2024 to 17th March 2024. During the visit, he paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation & Linkages) and Director (Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer).
He also gave a seminar to students on “leadership, study and research opportunities in Germany and gave a guest lecture to members of academic staff and students on “the application of nature-based solutions in mitigating socio-environmental challenges in Africa”
