PhD in Chemistry
The Department of Physical Sciences at Machakos University is committed to quality postgraduate training, to equip students with the 21st century skills required for the job market. The new PhD in Chemistry programme is designed to promote creativity and innovativeness in addressing societal needs and challenges and bridge the existing gap in the industry and institutions of higher learning.
To achieve these aspirations, students will be exposed to emerging and current trends in the various disciplines in chemistry including the use of artificial intelligence in chemistry as well as computational chemistry methods. Graduates of PhD in Chemistry degree programme should be able to: analyze situations and design research experiments independently; undertake research geared towards providing solutions related to chemistry; and demonstrate the right skills and knowledge in broad areas of chemistry relevant to the public/private sector.
The staff in the Department of Physical Sciences are widely published with international collaborations for research, exchange programmes and research visits. The Department also boast of research laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

Admission Requirements
A student wishing to study the PhD in Chemistry degree must be a holder of a Master of Science degree in chemistry or related discipline from a recognized university.
