Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics and Technology focuses on application of physics in the real world with emphasis on advances in technology in providing cutting edge solutions to the global challenges. One of the challenges facing the world today is climate change and renewable energy solutions are at the forefront as the better alternatives to fossil fuels. To this end, there is a lot of focus in the area of renewable energy by leveraging on research and current technology to provide sustainable solutions.

In the four year period, students are exposed to courses in fundamental physics and emerging field of renewable energy, fiber optics and computational methods in physics. It is envisaged that, with knowledge impacted through the various courses coupled with compulsory industrial attachment and research project, at the end of four years, graduates will have acquired requisite skills and knowledge to pursue careers in the industry including: Telecommunication companies; Research and scholarship centers; Renewable energy companies; Instrument Calibration; Instrument/Automation/Control Engineering; Environmental agencies; Energy & Petroleum authorities and agencies; Hospitals and health-care centers; Space agencies & Astronomical observatories and Academic institutions.

Faculty members teaching courses in the programme are expertise in their area of specialization that includes: material physics, renewable energy, fiber optics and nanophotonic and have published widely in peer-reviewed journals equipping them with necessary knowledge and skills for mentoring the next generation of experts.
