The Department of Physical Sciences is one of the three Departments in the School of Pure and Applied Sciences consisting of Chemistry and Physics. The Department currently hosts three programmes, which are:

  1. Masters of Science (Chemistry);
  2. Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics and Technology; and
  3. Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry

Master of Science in Physics and PhD in Chemistry programmes are at advanced stage of development and will be rolled out soon.

The Department also services related areas in the School of Engineering and Technology, School of Agriculture, Environment and Health Sciences, and School of Education.

 

These programs have been designed to ensure they are of high quality, with the capacity to open unlimited opportunities for our graduates in this competitive era in terms of research, innovation and technology. All our programs are well structured and enriched to give learners the experience they require to face the dynamic world with a future of prosperity. The Department has undertaken to use effective training, teaching and learning approaches that give our graduates cutting edge competitiveness in the fields they pursue.

 

The teaching and support staff have vast experience with the problem solving approach that is learner centered. In addition, the University has ensured that there are adequate facilities in terms of lecture halls and well equipped laboratories for effective teaching and research.
