PERSONAL BRIEF
Dr. Edgar Owiti is a lecturer at Machakos University in the department of Physical Sciences. He has a Ph.D in Physics (Nanophotonics) from the Institute of Modern Optics at Harbin Institute of Technology, China (2018). Before then he obtained his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physics from JKUAT in 2012 and Bachelor of Science in Control and Instrumentation in 2008 from JKUAT.
His research interests cover areas in optical materials and devices (Metasurfaces and Metamaterials), optics of plasmonics and nanophotonics, holography, and computational optics. His current research is focused on solar harvesting based on holographic solar concentrators and perovskite photovoltaic solar cells. He has published several publications in peer-refereed journals and attended several conferences within and outside Kenya. Dr. Owiti is passionate about his teaching and research at Machakos University; he continues to develop research proposals in his research areas to attract grants and advance research in the university. He is currently the coordinator for timetabling and examinations for the department of Physical Sciences at Machakos University.
RESEARCH INTEREST
Gap-plasmons metasurface devices, Holographic solar concentrators, and Perovskite-based solar cells.
